Hi guys and gals.....this is my second Reaper recording...if you're interested

This is my daughter Kate's song.....she is singing and playing acoustic guitars, and I'm doing the lead guitar and such. The song is "Out On A Limb"

Doughboy, like the song, Kate has a very soulful voice with lots of emotion. I cant give it my full attention as im having to listen in mono with gurgling in my left ear :( but it would be in my playlist.

Good construction,good voice.Recording is good but there's a lot of high end hiss.Also I don't see where Reaper is mentioned on the site in the recording process only a hardware recorder?

hey dough - great song! kate's got a great voice. very talented and mature sounding. how old is kate? i love thick sounding female vox. well done. nice geetar as well... do you have a comp on the master? sheppola, i think dough does the same thing i do and that's record on a roland VS unit and xfer it over to Reaper for mix and final touches. dough, correct me if wrong. mark

Very nice indeed, your daughter sings beautifully, it's super song too. All very well arranged and everything Couple of points though, I really don't like the compressed pick attack on the lead guitar, the sound is cool otherwise, it sounds like the stomp box type of compressor, possibly even responsible for inducing hiss that Shepola mentioned. The other thing is why are you the only one with a picture on the site? Come on now, it should be family image or just Kate, that just looks wrong.

Shoot......I forgot all about that....I just haven't updated whatever it says on there in about two years.....Cripes.....I'll have to change that. My Roland VS basically a door stop waiting for a door to stop. For a compressor on the Master, I'm using Ozone!....and then there is a limiter on Harbal which I use too. Harbal is an EQ software if you haven't heard of it. I have her parts recorded for three more songs that we did over Christmas break.....sooo, I'm workin' on the bass line on one of them now.

yeah, great voice. nice song. I agree with Tedwood. The "pick compression" is a cool effect but I don't like it either :)

Great vocals! Really impressive. I think mix overall is good, though a bit 'crispy', which I think is the pick compression discussed earlier. Maybe just turning the lead down a notch or two...? Overall, great stuff. Your daughter should be on the radio across the country...
