Hi, I'm condering getting an HP Pavilion ZE4210 laptop that has a 1.6 GHz Celeron processor. Does anyone know roughly what Athlon processor this is equivalent to? I have a 1.2 GHz Athlon Thunderbird in my desktop machine that I can use as a refernce. Thanks.
Hi I have a home assembled computer with an Athlon XP 1900+, according to the speed tests I have performed using Sisoft Sandra, this processor is equivalent to a Pentium 4 1.6 Gigas. I must also add that formerly I had a Pentium 4 1.7 Gigas and from my point of view, the Athlon XP 1900+ is similar in performance. P.S. The Athlon XP only supports SSE, an application coded using SSE2 crashes.
Get SiSoft Sandra - it has big lists of reference speeds for all kinds of processors, chipsets and memory types. You'll only need the benchmarks for memory, chipset, cpu and cpu multimedia, so you can use the free version of Sandra
Speed depends from used memory, motherboard etc. Athlon XP rating shows that it is speed equivalent to same Mhz P4, not Celeron P4, what is always slower.
