I'm about to slap some acoustic foam up on my studio walls (some Markertek generic stuff...pretty cheap @ $20 for a 54"x54" sheet). Anyhow - what's the best way to get it up there? Spray adhesive, glue, velcro, double-sided tape? I'm putting it up on lightly textured walls that have been painted. Any suggestions?
how permanent would something like that be? how hard would it be to take it down and make the walls nice if need be? also, what would you do something like this for? recording booth or control room or both or what... whats the benefit
Chris, I don't know if you already did that but that most probably won't do much to your acoustic, except from maybe absorbing some of the high frequencies. What I ended up doing after some research was to buy some panels of 703 fiberglass, frame them and attach them 3 to 8 inches from the walls and ceiling. About the same price, but much more work, granted. But the result is really much more, absorbing throughout the frequency range. Check out a picture of my studio: Oh and here's the "before": (I put my father to work, what's a father for? )
so what are some good tips for setting up something like that... if i had just a square room, what would be the best placements, angles, sizes, shapes, etc, etc... are there any good sites out there or any personal experiments that turned out good?
another good thing to use with the foam is the "tack" spray they use at screen printing shops to hold a t shirt in place while they print it. it is tacky but can easily be peeled off. I got it for like 10 bucks a can, sprayed it on, and when it was time to move, pulled them off the wall. David is right about the 703. Just really hard to find
