Anyone use these..Reason I ask is there a desktop manager in there that allows 4 desktops. Wonder If that works as good as it does in Linux. In Linux you can have i believe up to 16 seperate desktops. Crtl+Alt+arrow keys can cycle through them.I cam launch Ardour..Open the mixer and right click the mixer and send it to any desktop...Almost like having multi monitors..But not exactly..Can you do this with Microsofts power toys?? Can you send any windows to any desktop?? You could have reaper on dektop 1..Mixer on desktop 2..Fx broswer on desktop 3..Well you get the idea..

Yeah, I use them. You can't do it :( You can set 4 different PROGRAMS on separate virtual desktops, but windows INSIDE the program itself are not able to transfer to a different virtual desktop.

Thanks..Saved me from downloading and installing..Just to uninstall it..I love that feature in Linux. One of my favorite things about Linux are the multi desktops..

With Litestep you can do it. I haven't tried this in ages, but it replaces explorer.exe with litestep.exe. Resembling desktop environments such as XFCE and Fluxbox, it does rather drastical changes tho'. Around 2002/03 development stopped (and I jumped the boat), but as of today, it seems to be up again. I seem to recall that litestep.exe used more RAM than explorer.exe (big deal back then). Please report back if you decide to try it. I use both Linux and WinXP, and this is the feature is miss most. Best Regards Baard

if you have an ATI video card they have a desktop manager (Hydravision) as well. Not sure if nVidia has one (been a while since I used their cards). Stardock also makes a desktop manager called Object Desktop that does a ton of other things (stardock.com - not free). Check TechSupportAlert.com for all kinds of cool free apps/utilities. virtual desktop category:

Try googling for double desktop, gives you just 2 instead of 4 windows but you can put Reaper Windows on the other window and then switch using a key shortcut or an icon in the task tray.
