The Dude is right and wrong at the same time. Mix IS over. There will be no more enhancements to that platform. Digi has been really clear about that, and I'm guessing you bought yours more than a couple years ago. Digi hardly owes you an upgrade to a new product from one you bought so long ago. The reason people misunderstand this is that SOFTWARE upgrades are commonplace in the computer industry. You must remember that TDM is a HARDWARE product. Like a car, for instance. There might be new accessories available for it for a while, but then at some point, you may not be able to accomodate the lastest thing, at least without hacking into it. This isn't unfair in the least. The way in which The Dude is wrong is that Mix is OVER, but it isn't DEAD. Your Mix system (and mine too) still does exactly what it did when you bought it. If you buy things based on what you hope they will do in the future, you will often be disappointed. When you buy tools because they do what you want at a price you're willing to pay, then you will always get what you need, no matter what happens after that! I've seen OSX, HD, HD ACCEL, 6.x, 6.4 and 6.7 come (and sometimes go) along with bug reports, frustrations and problems. I LOVE my Mix3 rig running 5.1.1cs5 on OS9.1, on a G4 450MHz inside an old 9600 box. It rules. It still does eveything I need, just like when I bought it. As long as it doesn't break, it will still keep doing what I bought it for. The only fair question I guess is: If my TDM cards break, does Digi still service them? Does anyone?
