I got the go-ahead from my boss/wife to go ahead and build an Octazilla, so I'm going to go for it. What's the latest thinking on the motherboard? I know this is being discussed under the Allenstein Quadzilla thread, but frankly, there are just way too many posts there to find anything. I want a platform that I'll be able to expand over time. Right now I'm thinking that I'll go with a single Core 2 Duo, and then swap that out for a pair of Core 2 Quads or Extremes when the prices come down to earth. What are the current recommendations on motherboards? I'd like to get one with a 1394 interface built in so I can have the extra PCI slot - probably for at least another 1394 card or whatever else comes up. Also, what case do you recommend? My requirements are pretty much the same as everyone's. i.e. good cooling, good sound suppression. I'm thinking of the . Is 500W enough? Does anyone have any experience with this case? Thanks.

Hi, the Core Series will not Function in a Multi-socket environment. You will need Xeons for that.

OK, that's good to know. Thank you. What is the basis preference for the Core 2's, then? Is it price or performance? I know I've seen some 2 and 4 proc Xeon boards out there. Ultimately, my goal is a stable platform that I can start with for a reasonable $$, and add power as it becomes economical.
