Need 16 i/o on your 001? The Alesis AI-3 works flawlessly with my 001. Light pipe both ways, additional 8 analog ins and outs, rack mounted next to my 001. Cheap. I keep seeing you guys talking about using ADAT machines. Too bad the ADAT is only 16 bit because the AI-3 is a full 24 bit (even though the case says 20 bit). You can also use two AI-3s together as a "light pipe" snake.

What about the Fostex VC8? It does essentially the same thing as the Alesis unit but only costs $260 in the American Musical Supply catalog? Has anyone tried this unit also?
dumb question. when you're using the alesis ai-3 (or equivalent), you can record all 8 lightpipe tracks into 8 seperate tracks in PT. correct? have you tried recording 16 tracks at once? any problems? thanks. bobby
