1604 and 001

How about running the 001 thru the Mackie. Then you can get a monitor mix until you record all your MIDI tracks to audio.

I agree with Marvin. Route the 001 monitor outs to either a couple of input channels on the 1604 or, if it has an external mixer input (or aux input), use that. When you need to record your midi instruments, route them through the Alt 3/4 output (connect the alt 3/4 output to the 001 inputs 3 & 4). You can then create an aux channel in PTLE to record just what you select to alt 3/4 - and they won't come through the mixer's monitors.
