How much oil?

Hi I have just purchased a 1997 V40 2.0 cd. I have decided to change the oil as i dont know when it was done last and just wondered how much oil it will take to do the job. Like the club, seems to be some well informed friendly people on here.

The year 2000 model owner's handbook says 5.4 litres for the 2.0L engine.

Yeah about 5.5 litres

Thanks guys. I was worried because I only took 4 litres out when I drained it and got worried when after 5 litres the dipstick still wasn't showing full.

1.8 engine 2001, is it 5 litres of oil. cheers

If its a petrol excluding gdi:- Bright orange dipstick 5.4 litres red is 4.4 litres.
