You can also make the master visible in the TCP (if you haven't), click on the envelope button, select "Visible" at "Tempo map", marquee the envelope points in question and hit delete. Another way is to show the tempo map env in master and then right click the envelope and select clear all.

I had just this problem! I added a custom action which I called "Remove First Time Signature" Consists of Transport: Go to start of project Markers: Delete time signature marker near cursor and assigned it to shortcut Control+F12

For bar 1 only: You can't alt+click (delete) the marker point in Master Track View. You can't right+click the marker and "Remove Time Signature Marker". As MonoKulture points out: While on the first bar, the action works (only as a key command): Markers: Delete time signature marker near cursor
