002R firewire problem

hi, i am running le 002 on a gateway 400x (as recommended on digi site) and have just recently tranfered my files to a 120gb acom data firewire drive. this is the same model i've seen used in a studio i worked in that ran hd for a mac. however, when i go to play back the session, this message pops up: "DAE can't get audio from your disk(s) fast enough. your disk may be too slow or too fragmented. a firewire disk could be having trouble due to the extra firewire bandwith or cpu load." i need to know if anyone knows how to fix the problem (i already tried de-fraging) or can help me out in any way. i would greatly appreciate it. thanks. thanks to keith for the first response but i tried everythin short of consolidating the entire session and it didn't work (although the solution having to do with saving the session and opening to copy didn't make too much sense. does this mean copy the name or copying all the audio file).

How do you have the 002 and hard drive connected? PC -> HD -> 002 or PC -> 002 -> HD Have you tried reversing the order of the 002 and HD? What is the file system on the HD? FAT32? NTFS? What is the cluster size on the HD? 4K, 32? other? There are lots of variables to wonder about. I run a Gateway 400SDX with my MBox, and the Firewire port is fine with my external NTFS formatted drive, but I'm not also running a 002 on that same port. The Firewire port on the 400x might not be fast or efficient enough to run both the 002 and a HD. If you've tried everything else, you might consider getting a Cardbus Firewire card to run either the 002 or the HD on. The 002 and 002R can be quite picky about the particular Firewire card they're running on. Mike

possible solutions increase paging file size set ptle processor scheduling to realtime deactivate antivirus shut down software firewall shut down WXP firewall (probably not a cause but doesn't hurt) disable all network cards (except the 1394 port for your HD) Take care of yourself and say Hi to the kids for me.
