an easier way to preview files in the insert media file dialogue?

hey all so far when i want to preview files in the insert media file dialogue i have had to use audacity to do this but does any one know if there is an easier way to do this like telling reaper to preview media files by default before you insert them in to the project? Your help with this question would be most welcome. Kind regards trahern.

Use the Media Explorer window. Its found under the View menu.

Its just like Windows explorer. You can view your media files and even select sections to import.

You really want to read up in the user guide about media explorer... It offers what you want and more... auditioning, tempo matching, selection of just part of a file and more...
