I also just installed a LaCie external drive. It is currently on FW400 and the 002r is on FW400 via separate ports. Booting up ProTools disables the drive though. I believe it needs to be daisychained to the drive for this to work properly? I am also thinking about ordering a FW800 card which I suppose I would use exclusively for the LaCie drive (it is a D2 600GB Big Disk Extreme). Any ideas?

thanks dan i am obviously new at this so please pardon my elementary questions... "When you launch protools and open a session, you'll just have to navigate to the external drive to open the session." 1. DOES THIS MEAN THAT I WOULD JUST CLIK ON THE PT SHORTCUT ON MY DESKTOP AND "CREATE NEW SESSION"? THEN NAME/SAVE IT TO THE EXTERNAL DRIVE? 2. THEN TO LATER OPEN IT I WOULD THEN CLIK ON THE SONG/SESSION FOLDER ON THAT EXTERNAL DRIVE? i think the answer is yes to both questions - ie.common sense
