Reason outputs to...+6dB?!

Well, I know from reading (and looking) that you can clip the snot out of the individual channels in the mixer in Reason, but they also tell you not to do that in the final stereo output because that will be where the nastiness happens. But you're saying it doesn't - or not so bad as good?

What style of music is it?

Okay - I still can't post the Reason files (copyright), so I did a little test in Reaper, not worrying about peaks as much. The test mp3 I did (pardon the silence - I used the "live output" feature for the first time) is: my tune / an standard over-processed radio example / back to my tune... caution, this is a LOUD file... Q: how does it sound? distorted, huge, professional, garish? please pardon the mouse improv epiano ;-)

...one final afterthought. I found this terrific explanation of average level and headroom by a Sony Oxford rep - he even references the Metallica debacle ;-) Thx
