Water in footwell

Hi guys, my '52 v70 d5 has started getting very wet on the inside whenever it rains. Namely the passenger footwell literally floods, all the other footwells are ok. I have done a search and found a few things but they were all relate to the older v70's and 850's. It happens whether the car is been driven or not. I have just been out and found the little drain below the windscreen was blocked, (I presume you just hoover the crap out?), but just thought I'd see if there is anything else that could cause the problem, as I intend to attack the problem properly tomorrow? Does the little drain go anywhere that could also block up, or is it just the grilled bit at the top? Thanks in advance!

thanks, I am not sure about the windscreen, I intend to find out tomorrow if it isn't just that the drain is blocked.

I figured if it was the heater matrix I'd be losing coolant somewhere. There is a lot of water in the footwell and the coolant hasn't dropped at all, so don't think it is that, also it's only wet after major rain storms, which are a bit too frequent at the moment! Thanks for the suggestion though.

Hi I had a similar problem with my S80. If it has the same drain arrangement, then there is a rubber drain pipe under the grill you mention. This drains into the engine bay. On the bottom of the drain pipe is a flap valve which can get gunged up and block. The carpets have about 30mm of foam underneath so you can collect a lot of water in there before you notice your carpets are wet. I took 20 litres out with a vax ! I took the flap valve off and have had no further problems. Try giving it a good blast with a garden hose and look for leaks inside.
