I'm a longtime user of Yamaha NS10 monitors. However, I've read in a post somewhere on the DUC that some of you were having good results combining a subwoofer with the NS10s. My only real complaint with the NS10s is the lack of true low end. Can those of you using subwoofers with your NS10s tell me which subwoofers you are using? Thanks in advance.

Dear Slim: I would appreciate it if you could get me the model number for the Yamaha sub woofer that goes with the NS10s. I went on the Yamaha website but couldn't find it. Thanks in advance.
The Subwoofer you want is the Yamaha YST-SW160. It is sold through there consumer division. Try getting it at a BEST BUY, etc. It blows there "pro" version away. It is self powered(160watts) and was two ways to input. 1. rca's and 2. Speaker terminals. I use the speaker terminals...it's pretty cool. You come out of the power amp that yuo normally run your NS-10's on and go to the Sub; from there you go to your NS-10's. The sub taps off of the speaker signal for its feed. There is a volume and lo-pass knee. Set both of these to around ten o'clock and you'll get that bottom octave you never had.
Hey slim, geuss that will do...but if you can, try and find the YST-SW160. the 160 stands for 160 Watts. the "90" therefore will have 90watts. They might have discontinued it thogh. Either way it makes an unbelievable inprovement for about the same cost as one (1) NS-10. I take mine all the time and it gives me a cheap way of making a full range system anywhwere their are NS-10's (which means anywhere I work). It alow you to get accurate bass descisions that then translates to other systems.
