Just got my system and everything to go with it. I have the Seagate 9.1 Hard Drive, if I'm not mistaken. There was a SCSI card that came with it but I don't know if I'm gonna have to get the Adaptec that people are speaking of or not. That's what I need to find out to make sure that I have the right thing. I'm looking to put the system together this week so it would really help me out if I could find the answer out ASAP. Please let me know. Thanks!! Hypekeez

I have both IDE/ATA drives and SCSI drives with 29160 Adaptec UW II card. After experiencing several problems using SCSI along with PT ,I decided to use it only for video and choose the ATA/IDE (7200 rpm) as audio drives. Works great. My advice: stay away from SCSI; it's pretty useless (+expensive) when working with PT. Hope that helps.

Yeah, what T said, and get bigger drives too - they fill up fast with audio. Divide them into 5-10mb partitions for best performance.

IMHO SCSI Is not useless maybe a bit more expensive but not useless. I've gone through so many IDE drives (Lost a client project to one) in the past that once I switched to a SCSI system I have not KILLED one Hard drive. Have used: Maxtors, Quantums,Western Digitals IDE's ALL Dead. Currently Using IBM Ultrastar 9 gig SCSI HDD and a 4.5 Gig Seagate Barracuda with great results all on the MAC SCSI Bus.

If you are a newbie, then two things. 1) Welcome 2) Spend some time with the DUC search engine. Everything you want to know has already been discussed here at great length. Then maybe you can narrow down your question's to get more useful answers. Good luck.
