Slicing/splitting audio files and markers

Hello. I made a topic about this a while ago and since Reaper 3 just dropped I thought I'd make this topic again. So I'm into sample based hip hop music and everyday I'm looking for newer/ innovative ways to streamline my beat making w/o the use of 3rd party apps. I sample a lot of polyphonic material and used to use Zero X beat creator to get the Job done. I'm just getting back into the beat making as interfacing with a computer has become boring for me due to the use of 3rd party apps ( a bit too much outsourcing of audio then back into DAW). I would like to know if reaper is able to act like a "beat slicing" application with slice markers that will that will stop in succession of one another. Example. slice marker 1- *pushes play*... *scroll marker stops at slice marker 2. highlights slice marker 2- * pushes play*.. scroll marker stops at slice marker 3.. highlights slice marker 4, etc... This is imperative as I do not sample predictable audio data such as drum loops, the material I'm usually sampling from is very dynamic, such as orchestra and old school records so I can't just use automatic slicing features. Is there a way to accomplish this in Reaper 3? Thanks for your time.

i dont know if there is a way to have it automatically stop at the end of each slice. the way i do it is: 1) i make sure toggle repeat is enabled and 2) in preferences/editing behavior/mouse i make sure Doubleclicking items is set to "Set selection to item." then as i slice up a wav i can doubleclick each section and it automatically starts playing each section that i just selected. you have to hit play initially, but then you can fly through each slice quickly by double clicking and it will automatically play each section last selected. it will only play the last slice selected this way, so you can make sure you slice is chopped correctly before you move on to the next slice. hope that helps....

You can use this action (needs the xenakios plugin installed): You could macro that with 'go to next/previous item' to automatically go to the next or previous item and play it.

Thanks slops i will give it a try. Bevosss, I downloaded the plugin and used the command highlighted in your post, but when I push *alt+space* all that happens is the track restarts from the beginning. Am i missing something?

Anybody know of any "go to next/previous item" commands? I cant seem to find any in the actions list.
