I'm using 2 rb2 drum kits, 2 sturdy metal kick pedals, and 2x triple cymbal expansions. i use one kick pedal per rb2 drum kit, and i have a pedal for high hat, but i don't really use it. instead i assign the upper set red and yellow pads to open and closed hats. the software interface is rb2midi, and i told matt some of the features I'd like to see, a version or two back. awesome that he implemented pretty much all of them :) I use loopbe as a midi foldback, and feed 2 instances of rb2midi (each with different presets) into the same channel, housing BFD2 (or sometimes battery, or kontakt) this setup is velocity sensitive, but only permits 4 velocity layers. i'm still considering drilling holes into a drumstick, to put an on/off switch in, to run a highhat controller (or abc/xyz my cymbals, or rototoms, or maybe edge/bell my ride, whatever....) not the bad to the bone roland kit or anything, but I've got 8 pads, 6 cymbals, double kick (soooo fast these pedals are), and velocity sensitivity for everything except the kicks. and all for about 300 bucks. maybe even cheaper now, if you shop a bit smarter than i did. oddly the 4 velocity layers is kinda almost enough. works great with Steven Slate drums, which is 4 velocity layered anyhow. and i have more drums in front of me than a vdrum kit. plays funkier than vdrums. no dual zones on drums or ride. not 'proper' highhat. closed hat on one pad choking out open hat on another pad works well enough. simplifies double bass anyhow. has anyone tried rb2midi with the rb portable kit yet? 2 channels will hook up to a dual zone vdrum pad... i haven't seen anyone on youtube with a cooler rb2 kit yet :p
