out of curiosity: you get velocity too or is just 0/1 trigger?

no, i think it's just on off. like i said, it's kinda cheesy, but it would work for what i'm trying to do if i could get a couple more pads for cymbals. right now it's just kick, snare, hi-hat (closed), tom, and crash.

i'm interested in whether you eventually got this working - also, what's the latency like on these? they're definitely not velocity sensitive?

I never could get the cymbals working. Within reaper i added the drums as a joystick interface. i believe it was in the option menu under midi devices, I could add a jostick interface and the rock band drums (which i am also using the rb2 kit) showed up. Then it gives options for which script would process it, and there is not a wii option, but either xbox or ps3 script worked just fine. In doing so, however, i can't get the cymbals to play at all. I can see that they are registering in a slightly different way than the pads are, but I can't figure out how to get the code that they register to trigger a midi note. Somehow I'm sure it could be done by modifying the script, but I'm not a programmer and know only enough to be dangerous. Haven't tried xpadder. I did use joy2key a bit to send notes to the virtual midi keyboard, but i always did get a pretty good lag. If you got the latency down that close, it might be worth giving it another try. I actually solved my problem by going an entirely different route. I build an isolation booth in my basement and put the drums in there. I ran my mic cables down there along with a cat5 cable. I hook my laptop up and use VNC to remote control the audio computer upstairs so I can record to that machine from downstairs. I can play and record my acoustic kit now even if the kids are asleep:)

Does that mean this controller is not outputting MIDI notes according to GM drum map? That would be strange... I took a cheap china acoustic kit and added piezo triggers and wirded them to a 2nd hand alesis module. Total cost $300. This Alesis is just creating the proper MIDI notes, though...

ok, i just picked up a rock band xbox 360 USB drum kit for dirt cheap, i had to tweak the hell out of the script to get it to work properly but it works and it's awesome! let me know if you want the tweaked script (has cymbal, open hat, closed hat, snare, built-in velocity randomization).
