oil leak?? I think

I have a 2.5 20v Volvo 850 estate, It has high milege 189000. It has been great but recently the emmitions light came on, a few days later the service light came on. This week there was a smell of burning oil after even short runs. I had a look and found that oil was leaking from the oil filler cap, spraying all over the engine, when I removed it there was a lot of pressure (like removing cap of water expantion tank). I know that I can replace the rubber somehow but should there be so much pressure?? Any ideas would be great, don't have much money, chrismas is coming 2 small kiddies, need the car. Help Please. Note: I don't mind getting my hands dirty but I am certainly no mechanic. Thanks

Hi, do a search on here for Crankcase ventilation / breather / PCV / Flametrap. You will find a host of recent info on what needs changing / cleaning / discarding. Hopefully it is just a case of blocked breathers and not anything more serious like broken rings. Cheers
