Common Effects use queries

I have a query as to how to perform common effects used in EDM. Firstly, how do I best get the filtering effect often used on progressive dance tracks where the colour and tone to an element are gradually faded in? (Eg. here 1.03 to 1.33 ) I've been trying to achieve this using gain envelopes with ReaEq but it isn't right. Lastly, how do I apply echo (such as with Readelay maybe) to only selected notes of a midi part such as the last two (to fade out a loop for instance)?

Yeah, it's finding the relevant part that's laborious. Knowing the terminology is so useful. For those not versed in DAWs ;) like me, it can be a stumbling block.
