To explain what seventh is proposing: While the MIDI editor has focus hit "?" to open the action list (or open it from the MIDI editor's menu: Actions -> Show action list. The field on the top right (Section:) should say "MIDI Editor". At the top left of the action list window there is a text input field labeled "Filter". Type "move events" in there and you should find an action in the list called "Edit: Move events left/right (mousewheel/MIDI relative only). Highlight it and then hit the button labeled "Add" at the bottom left of the window. A dialog appears. Do a modifier/mousewheel combination which you don't need otherwise (for scroll/zoom or stuff). Hit "OK" (or the enter key) and from now on you can move the selected notes and CC events horizontally in the piano roll using that mousewheel/modifier combination. There are plenty ways to get along, but it could be so simple. Notes just shouldn't jump to the cursor after it has been moved those security pixels and all would be good. Again, items don't have that problem.

I dont get the problem, I can zoom in, and move notes by .001 of a beat - are you trying to get closer than that? (1000th of a beat @60bpm = 9mS) keys

Many thanks Gofer, I followed your instructions and will try it out tonight. Keys: I did zoom in, but maybe not enough. But the mouse was sticky I'll try Gofer's suggestions and try it out tonight --- I've got stuff to do now. Many thanks for your replies chaps.

As said multiple times there are lots of ways to get along. But still it could just work. Using your method I already have the mouse on the note, because I need to select it. What's easier than just click and drag it a tad then? Plus, I'd also need shortcuts or buttons to move the left edge in both directions and to move the right edge (as these moves do that jump as well). That makes 6 more shortcuts to memorize / buttons to fill up the toolbar (which is already crowded with 33 buttons here) for something I rather do with a flick of my wrist.

Ahhh, see? I typed "1 pixel" in my filter search instead of just "pixel". So the commands where the number was written out as "one" didn't show up. Plus Subz put a great picture. I'm such a slacker. Ugh ;)

Why doesn't the super-cool Nudge/set items dialog work on midi events? :(

Just fix the sticky notes please thats all i am asking for, i don't care for quantize (very rarely i use it for that machine effect) I work mostly with midi and this can screw up my workflow like nothing else. Is there a feature request for this that we can vote on?
