I always leave them off. Its just a mouse thing --- very tiny moves were never meant for a mouse. I just wondered if there was another way of moving notes just a hair's breath. This is especially useful when you have a double kick. Maybe its best to just forget it and re-do the performance with a punch in edit?
Keys! Such a simple suggestion. I'm doing some editing right now, so I tried zooming in --- what a difference ---- really improves things. Why the hell I didn't think of this --- This plus using the shift key --- big improvement. Many thanks.

Shift will only override snap to grid. It will change nothing when snap is turned off in the first place. (That's not to say it's not awesome that snap can be momentarily disabled.) Zoom does help to get to the place you want, but the sticky-jump is still there at any zoom. I can't understand why that's done like that. Tiny movement feel as if each note has to be peeled off the background first.
That's the most important :). It's not that I sit here and permanently curse at my notes. There are ways to get along, but still it just doesn't need to be like this. Items move gracefully along with the mouse, so notes could too.
You could also highlight the note and "ctrl F2", then input the position value numerically if you require very precise note positions. It sure dosen't feel very musical doing things that way but sometimes it helps to get the groove just right, especialy if you play keys / keydrums as well as i do :D Cheers
