All, I have just encountered my first snag since updating to 5.0.1 The damn cd Player doesn't play, it just sits there doing nuttin', when you go the the sound control panel and change the output back to internal it works (through the ****ty internal speaker ) .... not what we need here, is it poeple?!?!?! I've just finished searching the DUC for a fix and I see plenty of posts with the exact same issue, but no fix.... I'm gonna try the Retro CD thing tonight, but that's not my major gripe.... Audio extraction from CD's is now a pain, the toast audio extractor will read cd's, and even extract audio, but the damn cd won't play So you can't audition clips before extracting them, at least not without changing the output source all the time... I'm sure others must have this problem too? Damn irritating, come on Digi where's the fix already!!!!! //NW
exasctly man ! i didnt want to post this problem not to sound like DR ruth but its sure irritating as hell ah check this out>>>> before the latest update the apple cd was working good (going out from the 001 outputs !! now i can see two (2) digi symbols in the sound folder nothing work thru give them prowork >it will work , give them simple work>>were in truble sandman
Yeah, this sux alright!!! I have 9.0.4 and the mulitmedia upgrade, I've tried disabling the direct i/o extension, cause I believe it is no longer reuired with 5.0.1le and still I don't get zip! Does anyone have this working, without Retro CD that is?
Neil Ward 9.x users should update to 9.0.4 and QT 4.1.2 plus all software upgrades from the apple site. Using 9.0.4 and PT 5.0.1 you should use the new digidesign control panel and disable or remove the digidesign output drivers from the extention set. The sound control panel output set to digidesign. 8.6 users should use the digidesign output driver and not use the digidesign control panel. Following the above, we were able to get the apple CD working on OS 9.0.4. MJ Digidesign tech Support
MJ Thanks for the response I have done all you described except QT 4.1.2 (I have QT4.1), do you have a link to the download? Thanks for listening, The DUC rulz //NW

hmmmm,...... I found the QT update, downloaded and installed it, and things got hairy I now have NO sound when the 001 is selected as the sound out, before I at least had the system sounds. To make matters more intersting I cant get sound out quicktime documents, I get an unexpected error -2804. Info Macos 9.0.4 +Multimedia update PTLE 5.0.1 Digidesign Direct I/O disabled in extensions manager Digidesign Control panel enabled Digi001 selected in sound control panel Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks Neil [This message has been edited by Neil Ward (edited July 27, 2000).]
I think the Direct I/O extension is a necessary component for this to happen. Enable it in your current extension set (along with all other Digi specific extensions), restart and try it again. Brent
i updated to LE5.0.1, OS 9.0.4, updated to QT4.1.2 and my extensions seem correct but my apple cd player wont play. also 001 wont open up. i get a window saying "digidesign hardware is either not installed or is in use by another program. what the bejeezus is going on here?
I couldn't get any third pary audio to play through my digi001 without crashing until I updated the Direct I/O extension to v5.0.1a. v5.0.1 would freeze my mac requiring a restart after playing a couple minutes of audio.
