Hello, When i have for example the movie Platoon (running time two hours) and Vertical limit (aprox two hours)........ Howcome platoon took me 21 hours to convert and vertical limit only 14 hours. Has this anything to do with the way the data is stored on the dvd? Just curious :) btw when i rip a movie which will evenrtually fit on two 800 mb disks the picture quality gets a little scrambled at the end of the first disk any suggestions. thanx in advance Bas

The complexity probably affects the encoding time as well as the aspect ratio.

It has a lot to do with motion and lightness of the movie. Both will drastically affect encoding time.

Well, if you activated Temporal Smoother in one, but nor the other, this should be it. Also, the number of passes does make a difference.

@bas you stated that the end of the first disk gives you problems. Have you tried checking the cue/bin file to see if that also has problem?? if it dosen't then its something to do with the speed or the way its being burned. You might wanna try the full proof way of burning but if you are already doing that then slow down your burn speed now this is of course if your cue/bin file is not corrupt.

Thanx for all your reply's here :) ehhh The bin and que file are good ive checked the quality and there's no problem here. Maybe i've burned the disks on a too high speed but then it would affect all the movies iv done so far i'd usually burn the images files 12x speed, but the problem only occurs with some movies not all. I will burn on lower speed and see how things turn out. btw can the changing of the cq offset value to a higher number (from 80 to 90) result in that i do not experience the distorted quality anymore or at least lesser distorted quality, since i changed that a couple of days before and now it seems gone??? ok cheers Bas
