Hello Digi/Everyone, Have the following questions before i buy an HD rig: 1. Can an HD2 with an 96I/O open and playback 196Khz audio files in a session? I know it won't play out the 96I/O at 192Khz, my question is will the 192Khz audio files playback at all if you DO NOT have a 192I/O???? 2. Are the following plug-ins working with HD yet? Waves Platinum, Serato, UltraTools, GRM 1, GRM 2, & GRm ST, HyperPrism, TC MegaVerb & TC Master X? 3. Do the Apple DP 867 CPU's work or not with an HD2 system??? 4. Does Gallery mTOOLS support HD yet? Thanks in advance!
I can at least answer one of your questions. Waves Platinum has been made for the HD system. I have it. I believe Serato Pitch N time is available for it...I ordered it 3 months ago...and am still waiting for it to arrive.
Hello, You will not be able to playback 192k files with a 96 I/O. The 96 I/O only supports up to 96k sample rates. A 192k session would first have to be saved as a 96k session on another system before you could open it. A dual 867 G4 will work perfectly with HD hardware and is fully supported. regards, mike

Hello Digi Tech Support/Everyone! Thank you for all of the answers! Why wouldn't I be able to get a 192Khz file to playback with just a 96Khz I/O in Pro Tools?? Wouldn't a 96Khz session/file just play the 192Khz audio 2 octaves lower? Do I have to sample rate convert all of my 192Khz files to 96Khz before I use them in a session with my 96I/O?? Please explain. P.S. Anyone heard about Hyperprism on PT HD? I know they ahve Montage but what about plain Hyperprism on HD? Will it run on HD with or without OSX?? P.S.S. What controller are you guys using and why?? I'd like to get faders and keys on a single USB device. Is this possible or am I looking at buying a USB keyb and a motormix or radikal tech???? Thanks again everyone!!
Pro Tools 5.1.1 supported importing various sample rates into the current session. This was accomplished via drag and drop or the Import Audio dialog. Pro Tools 5.1.3 also supported foreign sample rates, but only via the Import Audio dialog, where it warns you that the pitch will be wrong when played. I would be disappointed if Pro Tools 5.3 has further limited import/add options for creative users such as yourself. Digi - Let us have the controls back. (BTW - 192k would be one octave lower at 96k, and two octaves lower at 48k.) mTOOLS is working with HD. Just ask your old buddy Scott. Now get back to work!
Hello, Just to clarify. You can also import tracks from a 192k session into a 96k session. You can do this by choosing to Sample Rate Convert them on import and setting the source sample rate to 192k. regards, mike
