hey guys can i buy a volvo cd player to fit straight into the hole left by the tape player and also connect it to the existing graphic equalizer thats there?? any info greatly recieved!! many thanks steve (sorry its a 1991 940 estate)
Hi, You can get a double din unit to fit, but the equaliser and lighter socket need to go. Not sure if there was a single din CD player (CD and no tape) and didn't see any on VADIS when I was looking for removal instructions. Des. . . ;)
Hi, SC-805 is the only one I have experience of that should work. You see them on ebay and I believe someone here is selling a couple.. :) It may help to get the enclosure from a 960 to fit the dash to slide the unit in.. :) Des. . . ;)
Hi there Steve, I wanted to do this with my 1993 940. I bought the 960 centre dash unit, and the 2 Single Din (one tape player, one cd controller) radio units that fit into the Double Din slot (so I could run a Volvo cd multichanger). As far as I am aware, there was never a 940 with a Double Din radio. It doesn't fit. The dash is different from the 940 and the 960, so you can't just slot the centre dash unit in. Also, the fuses and relays are at the back of the original 940 ash tray, and get in the way of the 960 ashtray. My advice: Just use an Autoleads facia adapter, and fit an aftermarket Single Din CD player (preferably a black one, so it blends in). Sorry, but I hope this helps!

I thought of doing this myself, if you've got a manual gearbox then yes I think you can make a double DIN radio fit, but if you have an autobox you can't as the overdrive relay sticks up to high and will hit the radio
