Hi, I thought I would let you know that once I connect my new laser printer to the USB bus, that I have to unplug it from the USB port (not just turn off the power to the printer) in order to get ProTools (M-Box) to play back more than one track for more than 3 seconds at a time. Plus I have to make sure that this is the case on Boot, otherwise I have to re-boot before being able to run ProTools. I found it odd that Mac has gone to only one USB card system; I'm glad to hear that the FW ports are two separate cards (2 i/o x400 is one card, and 1 i/o x 800 is the other). I just hope that apple continues with separate FW busses, and also reconsiders its' stance on a single USB bus system. Thanks, and best, Alyssa Ryvers

Are you using a USB hub with the Mbox ? Mbox needs a USB port to itself (as mentioned in the literature that comes with the Mbox). My TIbook has 2 USB ports. On one I have the Mbox and on the other I have a 2 way USB hub with my mouse and midi interface connected to it. This works fine.

Ah...far in the depths of the technical support of Apple, lies an answer to: Turns out the new G4s ALL have only one USB bus. IE: They have two things that looks suspiciously like independent ports on the back, but in fact, are ports on the same USB card / bus...When you go in your Apple System Profiler, for one of these new Macs, it says that there are 2 USB busses: bus 0 and bus 1, but in fact, this is only in the virtual mind of those programmers who did such software things... A.
