Hello, this is probabbly a stupid question, but anyway. After reading that the opendvd plugin for dvd2avi should only be used for preview, I read through the forums yesterday and only found the comment that encoding directly from dvd is not good for player and disc, why is that so? tanks, jonas

most notably, it causes the dvd drive to work for many hours, and more than one person reported of a dvd drive that went dead. it may also increase the total time of encoding, but that's prob a minor problem.

thanks, are the reasons for this behavior known at all? cos I can't realy think of a reason why this is happening. but good to know that is does... jonas
