Only getting output from the left speaker

This is not strictly a Pro Tools problem but this site has such great audio buffs that it's worth a try. Since I installed a DVD player I've discovered that I'm only getting output from the left speaker. I've checked all the panning/balance and volume levels on all my audio programs (including the DVD software) but they don't appear to be the problem. I've also opened up the computer and checked for dodgy connections. When I plug into my M box (the headphone output) and lauch a PT session both speakers are fine. It seems that it only happens when I plug into the computer's line-in (I have two and I've checked both)

Hi Bus, Not sure how you have your dvd player plugged in, but with mine you have a really small plug wire that goes from your dvd/cd drive and plugs to your mother board. On many mobos the jack is only two posts stick up from the board itself. Check to make sure you plugged that in correctly. I could be pretty easy to plug it in firm, but only one of the male posts on the board is actually covered. Does this make sense? Good luck, Kev
