Hello, I am currently evaluating Reaper 4 and quite please with the result so far. Not a big issue but why deviate from traditional hot keys for copy and paste CTRL+C, CTRL+V as opposed to CTRL+SHIFT+C, CTRL+V? For copying Item clips. Is CTRL+C used for something else? The other thing I am trying to understand is with Recording. Recording INPUT is something I can relate to but recording an OUTPUT is new to me. Can someone elaborate please how recording OUTPUT works? The output of what? I see everything has being an INPUT to Reaper. Thanks

Hello pierreb and welcome to these forums. You'll find many helpful people here and a lot of useful information. (1) Ctrl+c etc are used for copying items or tracks here. Ctrl+shift+c is used for copying part of a clip. You can assign / change the keyboard shortcuts assigned to many of the Actions - open the Action List and have a look through it (or use the Filter to focus on specific events or use [Find shortcut] to find the action to which a keyboard shortcut is currently assigned). (2) "Record output ..." is the output from the track - that may be some audio effected by plugin effects, or the audio generated by a plugin instrument when receiving the MIDI on the track, it can even be MIDI on the track effected by a MIDI plugin effect. From the REAPER keyboard shortcut list Created by going to Help\HTML lists\mouse modifier keys and action shortcuts (and then you can search it just like any web page and it follows any custom changes you make) Ctrl+Shift+C Edit: Copy items/tracks/envelope points (depending on focus) ignoring time selection Ctrl+C Edit: Copy items/tracks/envelope points (depending on focus) within time selection, if any (smart copy)

Yes, that Reaper is so flexible and customizable it will take me at least a few days to appreciate it. Now back to recording output. I think I get it! Correct me if I'm wrong. When recording the OUTPUT as opposed to INPUT, I am recording at the end of the PIPE as opposed to the beginning of it. Sorry for my poor analogy.
