AviSynth crashes or causes glitches

In some programs (like Media Player Classic or Windows Media Player) video played through AviSynth script contains both visual and audible glitches and often AviSynth crashes altogether with an "exception caught" message. This problem does not seem to affect VirtualDub though. In VirtualDub the playback exhibits "stuttering" at regular intervals. AviSynth 2.57 here, codecs in question are Huffyuv and XviD. Affects even the simplest scripts with only "AVISource" in them. Any ideas? mdw

do you have an overclocked system?

Does a 2nd script with just "DirectShowSource("your_other_script.avs")" played in VirtualDub exhibit the same problems. What rev M$ Media Player do you have installed? What OS (XPsp2, W2K)?
