Hi there guys, I have a 1.8 xs 2000 (w) s40, and want to change the air filter. Is there a specific size and which type (i.e. K&N/Pipercross etc) of panel filter shall I get. Cheers, Rob

I've had my eye on an ITG panel filter for some time now (there's a chappy on Ebay selling some for 50+ pounds) but I can't advise on power gains, fuel consumption, noise etc... Apparently it never needs cleaning, bit hard to believe. Any one with any experence of ITG filters? For those of you with a '98 S/V40 T4....original Volvo part # 30850831 (with sound proofing)

I'm running a K&N replacment filter, it seems OK but I had a performance exhaust fitted at same time, so can't say on BHP increase or noise due to exhaust, but I can't complain. I have used K&N on other cars and they worked well. Mattyboy

I have an Apex Racing one ready to be fitted. Going to take out the air box completely and fit a new induction tube, smooth walled, and wrap the cone in insulating material. Needs some minor mods but I have been given it for free. Anybody tried the universal cones you can get from Halfords and such places? Don't think you need to go expensive if you have good direct airflow and the bay heat is kept away from the filter.

I use a K&N panel filter which im very happy with. My mpg increased(slightly according to the trip computer) when I fitted it and the car seems to rev a bit happier near the top end of the rev range.
