Hi, I always have problems copying my SVCDs. I normally download a bin and que file, make the SVCD ok, but if I want to copy the CD later, I get message illegal track or file or something like that. I've tried with nero, CloneCD, CDRwin, with different setting, but all attempts fail. is there a way to copy without this error? I think it might be possible if I new how to adjust the settings before copying. normal VCDs and data CDs are ok. Has anyone else experience this? any help would be appreciated. fracmo2000
i've never tried copying an svcd but maybe a less direct way could work: extract the mpg file from the cd using a stand alone tool and then create a new svcd using nero (only if it's a simple svcd, without the fancy extras). i don't remember the name of the tool to do that, but i think you could use the mode2cd filter in graphedit: insert filter : file source async, select the video file from the cd, connect to the riff/cdxa filter, connect the riff filter to a file writer filter, press 'play'. theoretically it should work, but i never tried that. cheers
One way I been able to copy SVCD is to use the SVCD rip function in VCDEasy. But it did not work when I tried to rip the mpg file directly from the source disc. But if I used Blindwrite suite to create a disc image of the source SVCD to my harddrive and then rip the mpg from the image file it worked. I also had to demultiplex the mpg file with TMPGEnc TMPG Tools and then remultiplex it to SVCD again with bbmpeg. Finally I could burn a new SVCD with this ripped and remuxed mpg file as source in Nero or VCDEasy. I guess there could be easier methods but this worked best for me... Just burning the disc image did not work well, I had to rip, remux and re-author.
thanks for your advice. I have CDRwin and I am trying the extract/tracks/sectors function, using extract mode: Disc Image/Cuesheet. I had to click on "TOC" button to bring up the two files (bin and cue)in the Track Selection area, but it worked, and I managed to get both files on to my hard drive. I then burned a new SVCD. That was on disk1. now trying on disk2, but had a problem at first, when it didn't find the two files. managed to get it second time round. these files seem to be very hard for my DVD player to read. will let you know how I get on when I succeed with disk2. once again, thanks for your input. much appreciated. fracmo2000
